#1 JANUARY 2025 A first step
What if I were writing a monthly blog to meet the moment?
As we entered new darker times for our earth (climate crisis endangering so many species including ours), our loss of control to Alien Intelligence (see Nexus quote at the end of this #1) and our .imperfect democracy (no need to specify), why not make a humble contribution to what Margaret Wheatley (a true mentor to me) calls “islands of sanity”?
My friends joking seriously think that we, French born immigrants, have always a touch of our 1789 revolution that happened after we had sent our General Lafayette to help George Washington and the Founding fathers. as they created that new World experiment by the People for the People.
So is there a junior, much junior, Lafayette in me? Is there a small contribution I could make while increasing my awareness of the world around me and the awareness of my own limitations?
As a European born, with a grandfather fighting in WW1, and a family surviving WW2, listening to theirs stories, I can only get chills witnessing whats happening to a country I was so proud to become a citizen of, fearing for the consequences I so much heard about as a kid.
I am also at a time of my life where I can fully serve, like the grandfather whose first name I bear. That will make my parents proud. And maybe my kids as well.
The work I co-incepted so far, - the neologism I used to title my 2017 book “Thriving with Co-inception Leadership” - so co-incepted with many clients in the past 30 years as well as the foundation I founded, Digital Bridges 4 Nepal, are all attempts to establish potential or real islands of sanity. The cross-fertilization between the for profit and not for profit world has been an enlightening experience to attempt to give more meaning to our world. Working with meaningful people and companies alike have been a true privilege.
The epilogue of Yuval Noah Harari’s latest book, Nexus, is a call to action for me: “We have now created a non conscious but very powerful alien intelligence, If we mishandle it, AI might extinguish not only the human dominion on Earth but the light of consciousness itself, turning the universe into a realm of utter darkness.”
This blog is an attempt to generate a conversation with you that is detached for now… from all kind of AI, to be more conscious and aware that we are in a time where all kind of destruction is possible, and engage in the creation of as many islands of sanity as we can.
